Bejmat is the traditional rectangular zellige tile of Morocco. Ours measure 2 x 6 inches (about 5 x 15 cm). The word comes from Moroccan Arabic, and bejmat has been used on floors and walls in Fez for centuries.
The long shape allows many layouts: herringbone, chevron, vertical stack, horizontal stack and running bond (brick). Herringbone bejmat is a popular choice for kitchen backsplashes and shower walls.
We make bejmat in nearly 30 glazes, plus Unglazed Natural, which shows the raw terracotta of the Fez clay and is often used on floors.
Order a sample box to see the bejmat shape and glazes before your order.
